Why Belize?

English is the official language

Whilst Maya, Mestizo, Creole, Garifuna, East Indian, Chinese and Mennonite cultures all rub shoulders in this warm and inclusive society, everyone speaks English! Creole, Spanish, Garifuna, Maya and a German Mennonite dialect are all spoken too – so if you want to learn a new language there are lots of options.

Belize is safe

There is very little crime in most of the tourist areas and many move to Belize due to the safety and security. As with any country in the world, there are a few places to avoid such as areas of Belize City, but overall the country is very safe, and my wife said she felt far safer than other places we have travelled to in the Caribbean and Americas.

It is easy to get to (and getting easier every year!)

With direct flights from many US cities via major airlines such as American Airlines, Delta, Southwest, United, and US Airways as well as Air Canada flights from Toronto and Calgary, it is super simple to get to Belize. From further afield, stop overs in LA or Miami, connect Belize to the rest of the world!

There’s lots to do, whether you want adventure or relaxation

From ziplining through dense jungle and hiking up mountains to admire the incredible views to snorkelling and diving along the coastline, Belize provides abundant opportunities for enjoying nature at its very best. For those who want to do little more than lie on a beach and listen to the gentle sound of the ocean –Belize’s Caribbean beaches, offshore atolls and sandy cayes are perfect.

It’s an off-the-radar Tax Haven

As a country that values its resident’s privacy, it is one of the world’s least known tax haven. With all the benefits you would expect with offshore banking, there are also multiple tax benefits including no capital gains, inheritance tax and no income tax for non-Belize income. You can also become a retiree at 45! Just spent 30 days in Belize and you qualify for their Retired Person’s Programme, giving you even more tax and import duty benefits
